St. Geoerge Rotunda is a part of a larger archeological complex. Behind the apsis there is a part of a former Roman street with preserved sewage, the foundations of a large three-nave basilica, probably used as a public building and several smaller buildings.
One of the buildings is equipped with a Roman "hippocaust" heating system. The tiles that lift the floor can still be seen today. Experts define it as one of the most beautiful buildings in the so-called Konstantinov Quarter of Serdica-Sredets, where was the palace of the Emperor Constantine the Great and later of the Sebastocrator Kaloyan.
The Rotunda is part of a large antique complex of buildings from the end of the III century - the beginning of the IV century.
